About me

I'm Hannah, a freelance illustrator/artist from Amstelveen.
My family, the people around me, and funny stories that I hear, inspire my drawings. I also find inspiration in literature, nature and my travels through Europe. Especially Scotland, where I studied literature and history as an exchange student. But also Sweden, the country my father was passionate about.

I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. My father was a landscape artist, and I’d often join him in his studio where he would be working on a painting, while I was drawing and telling stories at the other end of the desk. As a teen I also used to doodle in my school notebooks, for which I would often get a reprimand. Now I mostly draw in my sketchbooks and on odd bits of paper that my children leave everywhere in the house.

I like working with watercolours, gouache, pastels and coloured pencils, and often mix them together.

In September 2024 I started the Visual Storytelling year program at Venster Academy for Illustration and Narrative.
